Up in the Sky with FlyLine RC! @FlyLineRC

Hello Guys and Dolls! Ever fall in love at first sight? I first saw FlyLine RC 2 months ago when I was at The Big Toy Book's Holiday event. It was so cool to see it fly around. I just knew I wanted to share how awesome it was with all of you! And with that intro...

Disclaimer: I was sent a FlyLine RC complete flight system to test. Any and all opinions are my own.

There are so many things I love about FlyLine RC. At first glance it is an RC airplane. But when you put it together an get it started you realize there is something magical about it. What do I mean? Well unlike other RC airplanes that are best played with out doors, FlyLine is best played with INSIDE! Yes you can set up your FlyFline plane to fly in the living room or your kids bedroom. Any room in the house where you have space and a smooth floor.

How does it do this? It is tethered to a pole which is weighted by sand or water (I preferred water.) You connect a 4, 6 or 8 foot tether to the plane and the pole and the plane soars around it. It is so cool to watch and the plane can fly pretty high depending on the tether.

FlyLine RC is easily set up and ready to go. I know "even a child can do it" is a cliche but this is so easy even an adult can do it. The assembly probably took me a half hour and that's mainly because I was reading the instructions so closely. The "hardest" (not that hard) part for me was getting the wheels on the plane. Leave it to me to put them on backward! I loved customizing the plane with stickers and making it my own.

While I was learning to fly my tether came loose a few times. I don't know if I was flying too fast or what happened but the plane would get away from me. The easy solution was for me to tie the tether around and do a loose knot. However you shouldn't have to do this.

When trying to fly I kept crashing... A lot! I blame it on not being able to tweak the controls just right. But what is great is that FlyLine RC is built to crash. The propeller detaches as necessary and pops right back on. It takes a bit of practice to really get it going and have it fly properly. In other words don't get discouraged when you take a nose dive or 5.

For the kid (adult, person) who loves RC vehicles and hates being cooped inside FlyLine RC is perfect! It's fun and keeps them from sitting on the couch all day. Have more than one "kid" who wants to play? No problem! You can actually use one pole for a few planes and have a battle!

You can fine FlyLine RC at Target, Toys R US and online at their site.

  1. I used to fool around with RC cars all the time but my parents wouldn't let me get a plane. I wish this was around when I was a kid to help persuade them!

  5. My hubby bought a helicopter for christmas and the controls are ridiculously hard, its not you! This might be a cool idea. Is it like those bats, pigs that fly around on their own once you tether to the ceiling? Or you can still control it? It sounded like it's tethered yet still controllable so then the boys won't crash it into mommy's stuff!

  6. You can totally still control it. It doesn't move until you make it. So it's like flying any RC plane but with a designated flight path.

  18. This indoor plane sounds like a lot of fun (just so long as you don't break any of Mom's delicate glassware); especially now, to help keep the kids entertained during this stormy season. Thanks for the great review!
