My Last Disney Trip...

Hey guys and dolls...

Sadly it looks like my days of being a Disney frequent flyer are numbered. A recent string of personal problems has made it almost financially impossible to travel as much as I'd like. So what does that mean for the Lair... Well nothing really. What's great is that I was able to collect tons of experiences and stories. And with any luck I'll still be doing interviews. Frankly interviews are my favorite things to post. :-) It makes me a little sad to think that this is the end though. That Disney will g back to being that magical place I dream about and I won't see my friends as often as I'd like. But it's also good because this means I can start saving up for next year. Which if my predictions are correct will be the literal definition of  EPIC. But for now I am a bit sad as I decide what my last trip of 2011 will be. My choices seem to be the D23 Expo and Disneyland or the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Both are amazing and I am sure will be a lot of fun. Either way I'll get to see a lot of really good friends one last time. (I should stop there before I get tears in my laptop...) Anyway I really should stop feeling sorry for myself. I did a lot more this past year than I ever thought I would. I went on my first cruise, I went to several meet ups. I got to meet and make new friends. I participated in some great events and in the end it was all amazing. As I said I'll still be around on here and trying to talk Disney as much as I can. I'm no Disney reporter but I think I have something to say. I just will very much miss thanking the Phoenicians and drinking around the world... I'll miss knowing that I will see good friends really soon. But don't feel too bad for me. I got more Disney this past year than some people get in a life time.

Mic... See you real soon... TTFN...

  1. It'll be here for you always. :-)

  2. I know you well enough to know that you've always got thoughts and opinions to share. I'm sorry you won't be able to visit as often as you'd like but at least you're saving up for next year and have another one in the works this year (there's always a bright side). I can't wait to see what you have in store!

  3. I feel the same way. Not just about being unable to travel to Disney but being unable to travel period. Let's face it, traveling has become so impossible for Americans as we know it.

For one thing, the vacation itself is expensive when you figure in transportation, hotel, food, souvenirs, and other assorted expenses. Even the best travel deal is still going to cost you.

Secondly, and this is going to be a touchy subject for some, the government has made air travel difficult because of terrorism. Anywhere you go, airports are loaded with TSA agents designed to make your boarding process a big hassle all in the name of "safety". And don't get me started on the new passports.

So since flying is off the table, what are your other options? The best way to travel is by car because you are in control of your trip. Unfortunately, a good percentage of Americans cannot drive. I know I can't. So what else? Amtrak or Greyhound? Based on my most recent experience, I would have to say Amtrak. Greyhound kicks you off the bus, then kicks you back on, then kicks you off again for however long it takes to get to your final destination. With Amtrak, you get to stay on the train at your discretion.

But trust me when I say, when you get back from vacation, and you see a GI-Normous credit card bill like I have, you'll definitely agree that traveling will definitely become a thing of the past.

Welcome to the Dragyn's Lair!
